I have a 95 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.9 v8. I recently parked my truck to go into work, about an hour and a half later came back out to my truck and started to pull forward and noticed it wasnt starting off in first gear and wont run in second either. It always starts in third. If i start on a hill and hit the gas once I get going about 30 it starts picking up speed and working fine but wont run in 1st or 2nd. Any advice? Ive checked the PCM and also tried unplugging the battery to try to reset the computer for the tranny but hasnt worked. I dont want to have to drop the tranny if at all possible.

 

Mileage? Any transmission work ever done?

 

260k and I believe its been rebuilt before.

 

Your transmission is a 46RH, the first three gears are purely mechanically/hydraulically controlled. PCM has nothing to do with it. It's probably rebuild time, again.
