Wow. I did not know that existed. Saved.

Thank you Friar!

It wants me to drop my fuel tank; I prefer this method given my camper top. I don't have a transmission jack but I think I can rig up my floor jack with some 2x4s to support the empty tank.

So long as it is empty....

Why is it, the fuel pump only fails when you have a full tank?

ha! That is my current scenario too -- tank is 3/4 full.

BUT it looks simple to pop off the filler tube and then siphon the gas out from there...am I missing something? Heck, I don't even need a jack for that!

My trusted shop wants 570 for this job.

I feel like 220 for Oreilly's lifetime warranty pump (Precision Pump brand) + plenty of sweat and some blood is worth the 62% reduction in price. I do have some free time next week as well.

Between HeyYou, Friar and this (http://www.*********.com/forums/showthread.php?t=302061) I feel pretty confident now. Thx all.

Spend a little more, and get the Delphi, or Denso pump. A lifetime warranty doesn't pay you to do the job every year.

Well put.

OK then -- The Delphi IS cheaper too. $160 from rock or as low as 160 amaz0n pr1me.

You see any issues with removing that filler hose to siphon the fuel out? The hose is still pliable. I will probably replace it anyhow while I am reassembling.

It's thick, and difficult to bend... also, it may be dry-rotted to an extent. I don't *think* there is a ball valve, or any similar anti-siphon stuff down that far..... Gotta get the gas out somehow.

I don't think my truck has ANY anti-siphon device. **update > I was wrong...it sits at the bottom of your rigid fill tube.

She's got to make it again from Texoma to TVC MI in late July (with 2 dogs) so that's another reason I am electing to do the fuel pump as 'preventative' maintenance...it's too bad I can't be there now for the jams/jellies/salsas galore!

You should stop by in Adrian on your way. Not real far out of the way, in the overall scheme of things.

I've never tried to siphon gas out of my truck....... Haven't had to change the FP... So, I have no clue.

I know, we have talked about it for nearly 2 years now -- just moved it to the top 5 on my bucket list now

Got the Delphi pump, rubber fill-hose section, and a foot of ebay# 330375714957 to replace the short 3/4" ID line that runs along side the fill tube. Picked up 4x new SS clamps as well.

I crawled under the truck today before ordering all the parts and I plan to use nylon straps (one attached to the nerf bar and one to my steel upright on my carport to slowly lower the tank down to the ground. Will keep you posted with pics and how it all goes down.

AND what is this part?
