I have someone wanting me to remove repair and install up pipes on a Ford diesel. How much should I charge. Not familiar with the work so maybe one of y'all mechanics would tell me how much y'all would charge....

 

Which pipes, specifically. Never heard of 'up pipes'.....

 

On diesels it the pipes that connect from the exhaust manifold to the turbo then the turbo goes down to the exhaust pipe

 

Ooooo.... Those can be REAL fun...... Given the heat cycles they experience, they will either come out easy, or, they will break. Do you really wanna deal with that?

 

He's an older guy and doesn't want to deal with the hassle of doing it and I have the free time. I'm charging him 15 an hr to do it all. From what I've seen it gonna be a pain in 4th e *** to get em out its not gonna be too hard to get em off.

If I can pull of an eye valve that's mouthed to the rear of the engine against the firewall with a mirror then I'm sure I can get those out. Just gotta get the intake out of the way.....

 

That's cheap labor! When I do side jobs, I charge at least 20/hr. And that's to little old ladies, cash.
