Default overdrive

hey im back well i fixed the no reverse issue i had by buying a good fully working truck and taking the tranny and swapping them wahoo now i have reverse im happy but now a new issue wonderful hahah well the second i started the truck up the first time after putting the good tranny in which i know the tranny is good because the tranny came out of my fathers dodge and he really took care of it and overdrive did indeed work in it well after i started mine up i noticed the O/D off light was on on the dash so i hit the overdrive button and well nothing i did drive it around and sure it did feel like overdrive was off what can it possibly be i put a new tranny filter in and new fluid also

BTW my dodge is a 98 ram 1500 5.2 and the transmission came out a 2000 dodge ram 1500 5.2

The newer trans has the wrong electronics for your truck. Need to change em to the 98 version. Might be able to just swap them out of the old trans, need the retainer as well. (you will see it.)

**** i got rid of the parts truck with the bad tranny can you give me links so i can buy those parts

Any parts store will carry them, or, at least be able to get them. You need the governor pressure sensor, and solenoid. Might have to go to the dealer for the retainer.

Heavy duty solenoid is available with the sensor for less than 100 bucks on EBAY.

Easy thing to check: Under the hood on the driver's side just aft of the battery is an electrical box. On my 96 Dakota if the one marked "fan" was out or blown, the overdrive wouldn't work (no light on the indicator bulb.) I replaced the fuse and everything turned normal.

sorry guys for lack of update but the truck has been sitting for over a week i started it up and was shocked overdrive was on so i risked my luck and hit the button it turned off and hit again and went back on and after warming it up and moving it like 20ft hit went back off and stayed off
