I like the idea of the portable garage!

I greatly appreciate all the tips spillage. I might not be able to see the project out completely till next summer, but if I can get the results you have... Thats the route I would rather go in. Time to get a decent palm sander and spray gun, and start practicing! Any recommendations on a spray gun? Lol

Haven't been here in a long time. Just wanted to quote," not looking for a $2000.00 paint job". Here in taxed to death weak dollar Canada, you'd be lucky to buy the paint for $2000, let alone get someone to put it on for you lol. I haven't read all the posts, but have you considered Plasti Dip? Lots of You Tube videos. Dipyourcar.com. Buy sprayer and paint car kit for like $500. I've been thinking about it. Food for thought.

You can easily spend 5000 on an ordinary paint job!! Lol I did see the plasti dip videos, and thats when I found the SEM hot rod paint and thought I might roll with that, since its tough/proven. Plasti dip for a long term paint job just doesnt sound like a great idea.. Idk maybe I'm way off

Spillage said he was into his paint job for around $500.. Its not the OEM original color, but it looks damn good! I would love to eventually yield those results... In black

NO, Your right on target! It's not paint it's plastic (plasti-dip) more like rubber. Use it on tools not cars. I cant stand the stuff! Flat or high gloss black? Gloss black will show any imperfection so your body work needs to be perfect. Flats or light colors are much more forgiving.

Yeah, never tried Plasti Dip, but like I said, paint job is ridiculously expensive here. And I've had experience (bad) trying to do my own prep, and while you might have better luck, it did not go well for me. I'm a truck driver, and do alot of stuff myself, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. But body work I shy from now. And that's right about dark colors show every flaw.

Then Im a definite NO on plasti dip then! Lol Ive heard its pretty good for wheels, that I could see.. Would be easy to do touch ups.

Because black is such a difficult color for paint, I was originally planning on flat black. But im pretty confident that with some experimenting and a lot of patience, I can do a good job. My paint is black now, so like you said its easy to see the imperfections..

One thing I learned from construction with painting and sanding... Your eyes cant always see what your hands can feel.

I may not be able to lay paint down before the winter hits, but I may start the prep work and get the primer on there sometime in the fall. If I do, I will gladly put up some pictures. Should be interesting, for a first timer.
