Maybe it's just me
Hello everyone.. newbie here. Just bought a 1999 ram 2500. Runs great but when i step on the gas to give it a shot of go power it seems like it doesn't really want to go very fast.. sounds like it kicks into passing gear but feels really sluggish. doesn't back fire or skip or sputter or slip at all. just feels like i'm towing a house when i kick it into passing gear. Is it me and i'm just used to driving stuff that has more go than grunt or is it a problem with the trans?
Any help would be appreciated.

have a look at the plenum thread stickied at the top of this forum. (provided you have a v-8....) Wouldn't be surprised if the cat wasn't clogging up.
How many miles on the truck? What engine? How well was it taken care of? Last time it had new plugs, etc?
Welcome to DF!

it's a 1999 ram 2500 5.9L v8 gas. new plugs, wires, cap and rotor ( what a pain)...in last few days. looks like truck sat for a while under a pine tree then was used according to previous owner for a few months for construction purposes then sold to me. No cat, p.o removed it straight piped to delta 40 muffler with leaks all the way to muffler at pipe joints. Truck kicks into passing gear like i said revs up and speed does pick up but not like I would expect. You know how you step on it and expect the truck to just jump up and boogie... well this truck just jumps up and slowly increases speed. I will check out those posts this afternoon thanks.
ohh yeah and there are 211,000 miles on it.

These trucks don't really boogie haha
lol thats why i asked is it just me..lol i am getting ready to put a whole new exhaust system on it from the engine back as p.o. cut and spliced this one all up. maybe it will help a little. I told wife it may just be a hauling beast and isn't meant to burn the tires off.
