Default external voltage regulator help!!!

Okay heres the deal, ive researched this a ton so bear with me. The voltage regulator in my truck died and as we all know they are in the computer. So, i wired in the external one. at idle it seems to work okay, about 13.7 - 14 volts. But as soon as i start driving the volts jump up depending on what the rps are, higher rpms, higher voltage reading. as high as 15 volts even. So my question is what the heck is wrong? Badground? not wired correctly? Im lost and any help is much appreciated thanks

What kind of regulator did you put in and how did you wire it?

There's 2 wires from regulator, both are going to the alternator, the center wire on the regulator also has a 12 volt keyed line going to it and then I have the regulator grounded through the alternator and through the mounting bolts holding it to my fender
