Default Identify a 4500?

Is there a way to identify an NV4500 when looking at it vs a NV3500? I'm looking at a donor truck for my swap, it's. 98 1500 with the 5.9. he says it has the NV4500 in it, but I want to be sure before I buy.

Would that be easy to spot? Also, any way to tell the 5.9 and 5.2 apart?

Yeah, if the bellhousing unbolts from the trans, it will be patently obvious.

According to theory, engine size is cast into the side of the block somewhere..... I don't recall just where.... that's about the only way to physically identify them.

I believe;

5.2 blocks have a casting# of 53009714
5.9 blocks have a casting# of 53006921

This is on the drivers side of the block... it is sometimes followed by the capacity.

The 4500 is cast iron and very square looking with the aforementioned separate bell housing. The 3500 is cast aluminum and being one piece with housing, also has little square "waffle" ridges cast into its body. Also has no PTO cover.
