not immediately. Last week, the plan was to buy a diesel 3500, for about 3500 dollars. swap the axles, put a flatbed and a 5th wheel on the diesel to pull a trailer with my truck, and my friends buggy, and other friends jeep.

But I waited a whole day to make that decision, and it was sold, lol.

For now, I will count on the Chrysler rear end

To bad you are so far away. I have a D60 3.55 drum brake rear that I'm swapping out soon for a D60 4.10 disc brake rear.

I appreciate the sentiment. Unfortunately, I am a bit farther than most

Update:

Ok, so here is what I found, that most of you probably already know.

No one makes a chormoly (or even non chromoly) 35 spline axle shaft for the 2002 dodge dana 60 front that includes the vacuume CAD (center axle disconnect).

In order to eliminate the CAD, I would have to put on locking hubs (about 1700)
If I put on locking hubs, I can not use my rims, as they are off of a dana 44, 5 lug with smaller center diameter. So I would have to buy new beadlocks. I had already ordered a hub adapter to be machined that takes the 8 bolt 6.5 to to 5 bolt 5.5.

I contacted a few custom axle shops about making one, and got a no go with all except one. It looks like RCV is going to build a 35 spline three piece axle that utilizes the factory CAD for me. Therefore I just sent my 600 dollar u-joints back to amazon.

If RCV pulls this off, I think that would be a pretty big deal for dodge owners to no longer be stuck with a 32 spline axle. Their axles are pretty insane. I should know for sure on monday, and I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

These folks also make up custom axles - I'd check with them - http://www.moserengineering.com/

If you can find a mid to late 90's ford 3/4 ton, you can cob all the parts off of it, (balljoints out) and it will bolt right on to your truck. MUCH cheaper than the various conversion kits.

Here is a link of a dana 60 mod/conversion for a muscle car. Some of the links in it may be helpful.

Dang, that's good info. I'd like to put 60's front and rear in mine just to avoid the 9.25 and the 44 weak spots. Now I know I won't have to weld all the brackets and that's good news to me.

I've never seen the 44 fail like that. Makes me serious about the upgrade now.

I appreciate that info, and that would have been a wiser way to go. At this point, i've vested so much into it, it is easier/cheaper to move forward with the custom csv.

That being said, RCV most likely will be offering these after my build, so there will be another option for people.

On a trail rig like yours, why not just put in a 1 piece passenger shaft? Do away with the cad, just have a full time front axle. Taking it in and out of 4wd at the t case will allow you to switch power to it, the only thing is that the front axle will spin all the time and go for the ride. Nothing wrong with this, this is how my dakota is set up, and many 4wd vehicles come from the factory.
