Default Upgrading to power seats

I'm looking to replace the seats in my 96 as the seats are in rough shape. I've found a set of power seats from a 96, just wondering if anybody knows if a 12v power line would be all I need to get them going? Are the controllers built into the seats? I am going to go look at them next week, but thought I'd check to see if anybody here has any insight first.
Thx

I *think* all the power seats need is power, and a ground. Switches in the seat control the motors. Of course, there is other stuff on that connector as well. (seat belt stuff, I do believe.) The connector is probably already there.... the wiring for them might even bee there, but, the circuit breaker/fuse probably is not. Poke around, see what you find. Even if you have to run some wiring, it shouldn't be that much of an issue.

perfect, that's what I was thinking. I'll poke around in my truck later today to see what I find, my truck's a 96, donor seats are from a 97. Yes, definitely easy enough to run some wiring if I need to. Once I actually look at the donor seats tomorrow, it'll help, but thought I'd ask on here first to see what others know.

Please post back what you find. I'm interested in doing the same thing to my truck, but just need to find that elusive used seat in great shape.

well, had time so went and looked at the donor seat this morning, It's a 97, my truck is a 96. Measurements say the brackets will fit, so seats will work. I just read through the service manual that I downloaded from this site a few years ago, and looks like everything is contained in the seat. It's actually power drivers side, manual passenger side. I'm going to cut out the connector coming through the floor of the donor truck and connect it to a fused power connection and everything should work according to the service manual. Gonna pull the donor seats this week sometime, but probably be a few weeks before I can get around to installing them in my truck.

Looking forward to any information and photos you might care to share about this swap. I'm in no rush to change out my seat, as I have plenty of other projects going on. My truck is also a '96, but it is a standard cab.
