Default 00 Dodge Ram small transmission fluid leak

I have a 2000 Ram 1500 4x4. It the 5.9 and a automatic transmission. The other day I notice I had a few drops of transmission fluid after I got done driving it for a few hours. I crawled up under it and noticed a very small leak from the inspection plate. I immediately checked the fluid level and it was above the "max" mark on the dipstick and had bubbles near the top. If I leave the truck sitting for a few hours for the fluid to cool, the leak seams to stop and when the fluid is warm and up to temperature that's when it leaks but it only will leak about 7-8 drops in a 8 hour period. I'm just wondering if the transmission is venting out the extra fluid or do I have a bigger problem on my hands?

First, make sure you checking the fluid level with the engine running and trans in neutral (not park). You will get a higher reading in park as our transmissions (unless modified) do not circulate in park.

I know, right? What bonehead engineer decided to save the company a few pennies with that design!

I checked it when the transmission was up to temp and when it was idling in neutral

If it's over full, it might just be leaking out the vent hole, which is right above the pump, behind the converter... (inside the bellhousing) It isn't leaking bad, so, at this point, I would just pay attention to fluid level, maybe try and get a little bit out, and see if that doesn't resolve the issue.
