Yeah, I wasn't either, but it makes sense. If you're going down a hill, locked up, and take your foot off of the gas pedal, you don't feel any engine braking. Theoretically too, it would stay locked if you coasted to a stop without brakes, unless the PCM would automatically unlock at certain RPM.

I ordered a new pigtail for the temp sensor, bt will my fan work? My temp gauge is reading round 150 and it's 85° I kno the engine is hotter than tht. Will I cause damage driving it??

Your fan should be mechanical. It doesn't care about the sensor.

have a look at the one-wire sensor, make sure it has a good connection.
