Default Can you adjust tailgate so it doesn't rest on bumper

I have a 2000 Dodge ram 1500 I just had painted. When I open the tailgate it rests right on bumper. Is there a way to adjust this so it doesn't indent the paint?

Replace the cable that acts as a limiter, it must be stretched (if it's still there).

Or, as a stop-gap, put a few twists into your cable. It will shorten it up a bit.

Just a little poor man's tip: the cap from a quart of oil makes a good replacment... at least on the solid side.
