General break down of the numbers Chrysler used in our generation of vehicles;
3- number of gears
2- torque rating (no clue if this actually figures to a number, but is a rating system from 0-8= weak to strong)
R- rear wheel drive
H- hydraulic shift
Forward gears- 3 or 4
Torque rating- 0-8 (1-9 on Wikipedia)
Drive type- R= rear wheel, T= transverse, A= all wheel
Shift Control- H= hydraulic, E= electronic
These could be wrong, but they are the most common I could find with a quick Google search.

EPA is actually a good guide (who would have thought that?). By the looks of the ratings, move up to a 318 4speed for better highway mileage.
