New member driving 96 dodge ram 1500
Hey everyone, i just joined looking for some insight. I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 2×4 club cab. it's had its fair share of problems over the years but nothing since recently. My black beauty decided to die on me while driving down the street going home the other night. It's going on 4 days now and she won't turn over. I crank the key everything shows up, stereo turns on lights sounds but once I turn the key even more it doesn't want to fire. When I return the key to starting position (I'm not a car person I don't know the tech terms) the alarm is then engaged and the stereo makes a whirring sound likes it's going to eject a cd. I'm at a loss and it's my only mode of transportation right now.

When you first put the key in and turn it to the first position that is "on or run" When you continue to turn it that is "start or crank". Turn over means the starter is turning the crank shaft. "fire" means it has started or attempted to start. Now with that out of the way what is it doing? Any info on the alarm? Is it factory, aftermarket, remote start or just an alarm? Is the battery(and connections) in good condition? If your check engine light is on you have a code/s. Do the key dance to get the code #'s and post them.
