Default Best intake for a 5.9 stroker kit?

I am trying to do my homework and get all I need extra that the shop wont get in the kit for the 5.9 stroker kit. I know the intake is a big area that gains can be netted from. So my question is will I be happy with the Mopar M1?

Seems that the Huges is a little overpriced for what you get. Any help is appreciated.

The hughes is indeed overpriced, but, it is pretty much the only source of late for a decent manifold. The mopar M1's have become scarce, to say the least.... If you can find an M1 two barrel, that's the hot ticket.

Is this not what I should be looking for?

That's the 4 barrel, with an adapter, Mopar actually makes a 2 barrel version. If you can find it.

That one also doesn't have the injector bungs, and is for an LA engine(pre 1994 iirc). The LA intake bolts are parallel to the mount surface, magnums bolt straight down from the top.
The bolt on M1s for these trucks are scarce as HeyYou said. If you do find one, they are selling for the same price or higher than the Hughes intake.

A couple notes for the Hughes intake from my recent install; You might need to modify the brackets to make the injectors line up in the bores properly, and you probably won't need to change the crossover line at the rear unless yours is brittle or long/short enough to cause a problem.

Watching different Dakota forums is probably your best bet for finding an M1, but don't hold your breath. Good luck.

Here is an example of the M1 2 barrel intake

http://www.moparone.com/p/Dodge_1999...wd=&origin=pla

This intake was made with both EGR and non-EGR provisions. As was mentioned, that intake is no longer made. Search the forums for used ones. They also turn up on local craigslists and eBay periodically.

So we need the non-erg or the one with the ERG?

EGR fell off the trucks in 96, at least, on the v-8's..... If you can find a non-egr manifold, great, if you can only find an EGR manifold, just put a block off plate where the valve would go, and it will work just fine.

Both the M1 and FIAirgap are good manifolds for these motors if you've done other performance mods.
For general use I think which is better is close to a toss up... which to use is more of what you can get your hands on, and/or afford.

I have the FIAirgap, with the longterm goal of building a 390 stroker.
When first installed, I saw better mid and top end performance, but a slight loss in bottom end.
This was offset when I installed headers, so I'm a happy camper.

No one mod/performance item will make much difference... it is what they're paired with that will bring the best out of a given item.
Neither the Airgap or M1 are built for bottom end performance... the kegger is the best "design" for bottom end, but it is too restrictive for higher revs and larger cubes, hence the Airgap or M1 being used for most bigger CI builds.

The same sourcing methods mentioned to find an M1 can be used to find an FIAirgap at a better price.
