My mech was in there when he replaced head gasket and cleaned everything did not do compression test but he says compression is great after thorough cleaning of parts accessible

Did he do anything with the heads?

If this problem started after he worked on it, I would have a chat with him.

Heads removed and all checked out fine.(cracks warped). Didnt do anything but clean em.. My original problem was not staying on.. Alot been taken care of just have no power to #1 injector. And no difference in idle when #1246 injectors are unplugged..

If you are getting spark, and the noid light indicates the injectors are firing on those cylinders, you need to do a compression test.

All the injectors get power from the same place, I think there is a splice in the harness that breaks it out to the individual injectors. Going to have to dig thru it, and see if you can find a problem.

If I'm not mistaken the injectors have voltage potential at all times, so they fire when the ECM provides ground. Easy way to check this is to put a voltage meter probe on the supply pin in the injector connector and ground the other meter lead. If you don't see voltage try the other connector pin. You should see voltage on each injector connector. You can do this check with the connector off the injector, but you'll probably need the engine running or at least turning over. If one injector doesn't show voltage, trace the wires back.

Correct, but, the injectors only get power for about three seconds when you turn the key on, and after that, only if the PCM sees the engine turning.

Easy way around it is to bypass the asd relay. (where the injectors and coil get their power from.) Makes it a lot easier to trace circuits.

And, it's a '96. Not sure if it works that way older than '97 (when they switched to grounding by PCM vs batt plus)

Put a jumper wire across pin 30, and 87. (I think) That should supply constant power to the injectors. (and coil)
