Default 2000 dodge ram surging

Hi I recently purchased a 2000 dodge ram 1500 with the v8 magnum. It's high on miles 200,000 had a new transmission put in in 2011 and only problems was the as doesn't work. Well after driving it for awhile I've noticed that the truck surged while idling at around 600 to 750 rpms and that if I tried to give it a lot of gas like close to flooring it the speed would not go up the rpms would hit 3500 but speed would stay the same I have to let off and slowly go up to that speed. So the other day I went in the hood and did some more intensive looking and noticed that some wires had been chewed by rats to the point that 2 of them were complete off and one was still holding. This is on the side of the engine in the little bottom groove where the wiring harness goes in and under to be held in the parts connected to that which my friend says are the fuel injectors are the ones with the wires gone (only one of the 2 is like this) are these the fuel imjectors or something else and what else should I look at.

Can you post a pic of what you are seeing?

Gas or diesel?

Welcome to DF!

Yeah, you need to fix that...... That'll definitely give ya trouble. Make sure you get the correct wires to the injectors though, it's sequential injection, so, having them mixed up will make it run funky too.

You can get a service manual for your truck from here.
