Default Problem with unlocking the doors

Hi,

I'm new here and I like this forum a lot. Lot of stuff here.

I have a 2001 Ram 1500.
Since this morning, I can't unlock the driver door with my remote. I hear a noise, but nothing happens.
The key does not unlock the door either. The key turns both direction (lock and unlock) but nothing happens, it stays lock.

The passenger door won't unlock either with the remote, but I can unlock it with the key.

I'm a bit at lost. Can the motor that unlock the door be dead? I doubt it cause I can lock the doors with the remote. I don't think the motor could work in one direction but not the other...

Anybody had a similar problem before?

Cheers

Unless things changed, the electric lock is actually a part of the latch mechanism.... Might try cleaning/inspecting first, and if that doesn't help, replace it.

I think the gear strips in the actuator... my pax side went first, followed by the drv side about a yr later... still haven't fixed them.

I saw a thread on here about rebuilding the actuator (if you're that way inclined), or as suggested ^, buy a new one... ~$100 each.

sprayed in to the mechanicism and a load of old grease, dirt and black crap came out then resprayed with white grease and has been working fine since

I forgot to add, you can get them from the u-pull it too.. I bought a spare just to have on hand... took my jump box with me and connected it to a couple trucks until I found one that actuated with a hearty thump up and down and that's the one I pulled.. $5
