Default 97 46re question

I've got a 97 2wd 46re that will be going in my 51 F1 rat rod. It's got the vss in the tail shaft and I'm wondering what exactly it'll take to convert it so I can connect a speedometer cable? Do I just need to get a long shaft speedometer gear and an adapter from a 727?

That would be my guess. The VSS on those is gear driven in any event.

Yeah I'm thinking it should be fairly simple. Actually I'm rebuilding a 727 right now so maybe I'll see if the gear and holder swap right over.

Ok so I pulled out the electronic vss and put in the long stem gear and holder from the 727. Direct swap. Nothing else needed.
