Central timer module is akin to a "hub" or "switch" in computer networking terms. Lots of stuff wants to communicate with the PCM, and the PCM needs to be able to chat with a bunch of other stuff. All communications go thru the central timer module, including all the information the cluster needs as to what lights should be on, and where the gauge needles should be pointed.

If you AREN'T getting a 'no bus' error on the odometer, the CTM is probably ok. You might try pulling the cluster, and then reseating it back into its connector... bad connections could make it do odd and strange things....

How far do you have to push the e-brake to get the cluster to straighten up, and fly right? Just enough to have the brake lite come on??

Just enough to get the light to come on. I pulled the cluster out and re seated the connectors. But yeah if i just barely make the light come on, the cluster works minus the odometer

You have a short somewhere then, think I would follow the wire from the brake switch, and see if anything happened to it.

What happens if you just unplug the e-brake switch??

if you unplug the e brake then the cluster just freaks out like usual. I traced the wire to the big connector under the dash by the e brake pedal

I have 01 Ram 1500 the same thing going on. Truck ran perfect, then go to drive it and ignition key makes a click in motor, and gages go all over the place. Turn off and on then gauges reset but lights wont come on. Cycle switch again then lights come on but still no starter. Lots of noises under hood, clicking and humming sounds. Turn off key but battery is still being loaded somewhere and will go dead. I have no idea where to start on this one.

Put a full charge on the battery first.

I did, battery is a few months old. I am going to take it and have it checked. Could be it just died.
