Default 2001 1500 steering knuckle

Broke my steering knuckle on my 2001 1500 4x4 5.9 hitting a snowbank.. passenger side. What part exactly do I need to be looking for to replace this? Dealership says it's discontinued.. thanks for any help.

Just need another steering knuckle. (and that actually IS what it is called.) Check with local junkyards. They should have an interchange manual that will tell them what they can take one off of.

so i've done a lot of looking around and the local junkyards claim they don't have the specific part I need.. I'm pretty lame when it comes to this stuff and i'm rather worried about getting the wrong part, can someone here tell me if this part will be compatible?

or this one

they both look slightly different from what's on my truck... but it's the closest match I've found out there..

If it doesn't look right, is it possible that you don't have a D44 but do have a D60?

Look for a metal tag held on by a bolt that holds the diff cover on.

Those things are pretty tough, I'm not sure how hitting some soft fluffy snow could do that.
Here is one on ebay.

Yours looks like a dana 44, the dana 60 has a 4 bolt pattern instead of 3. And it looks like you found the same one I found. The only difference I see in your pic is some extra bolt holes that don't look like they are being used. I'm wondering if that is a year to year difference, where one year used a knuckle made for various vehicles.

Do you have 5 lug wheels?

I have one of those if you are interested. I broke a passenger u joint and scuffed mine up around the bolts real good and bought another but decided just to keep mine cause it was ok and just cosmetic. I got it at a local yard. I still have the receipt with it. I think I paid 85 dollars. I was going to save it but I dont mind helping someone out. Ill give it to you for what ever I paid. Where are you located?

My truck is a 2001 Also. The steering knuckles do matter due to the taper for the tie rod end. I think it changed in 2000. I have the right one.

You should have gotten the part # from the dealer. Dana/Spicer makes the axle but not the knuckle. Compare the #'s for different years to see if they are compatible. I also do believe the taper for the tie rod ends changed at some point.
