Default 2nd gen transmission

So i have a 99 cummins 24v, just put a new tranny in, but the truck still hesitates to shift for shifts 1 and 2 and they are not smooth, i did the apps reset and throttle position sensor and that didnt fix it. Thoughts??

Does it hold first gear longer than you think it should? Or does it slip between gears? Where did you get the new trans from, and who installed it?

Yes, holds first gear longer than it should and when it does shift it isnt smooth. And trans was all done by a licences mechanic, all under warranty too

Mine does the same thing.... ( 8.0L with 47RE.....) If I step on the gas HARDER, it shifts SOONER... Go figure..... another member is having the same issue, and is having his checked out at a trans shop. Looking forward to hearing what they have to say.

I would take your truck back to where you had the trans done, take someone for a ride, show them what it is doing, and see what they have to say. I don't *think* its 'normal'...... but hey, ya just never know.
