Default 5.2 lifter replacement

Hey there guys I have a ticking sound coming from my engine that I'm pretty sure is a lifter. Before I tear my truck apart and disable it does anybody know if there's any special tools or procedures required with this engine? Year is 2000 thanks in advance!

None that I am aware of. Should be pretty straightforward repair. Are you SURE it is lifters though? Going pretty deep into the engine for a 'pretty sure' repair.

how is you oil pressure? What oil are you running? (brand, weight?) Not just a loose rocker, or broken valve spring?

I mean either way I'm gonna have the valve covers off so I'll already be right there. I'll definitely check for loose arms and broken springs or whatever before I go after my lifter but we'll see. I'm about to start on it here in an hour or two

Gotta pull the intake to get the lifters out. Inspect first, see what ya find.

You could use a stethoscope to try an verify its location. Many older vehicles do get their lifters clogged up and you might try one of the cleansing additives to free it up before you decide to tear into it.
