Default throttle cable?

getting off freeway last night as i approached end of off ramp truck had stalled. tried starting it would not start. did not sound like it was getting any spark. when i tried starting it again i noticed my gas pedal was not springing up and staying close to floor. when i looked under dash the throttle cable was pushed out about inch or so from where it should be on gas pedal. got under hood and found the right cable and everything seems fine as far as connections . so is the problem inside the cab? is it possible the cable stretched? im stumped because other then the part of cable in cab and pedal not retracting everything seems fine

Does stepping on the gas actually open the throttle?

The cable does stretch.....

no the gas pedal is pretty much to the floor at all times. no tension on the cable itself . here is a link to my issue. this is not my truck but same problem

If the throttle body return spring is apparently "fine", check the throttle valve return spring on the transmission -- driver side, above the pan. There's barely enough spring with both of 'em connected and nowhere near enough if one's not doing its thing.

Edited to add: Also, give a tug on that dangling tag end of the cable, under the dash. If the cable is broken it'll be obvious.

Pull off your air filter too, check for (some weird reason) stuck butterflies.

it seems i have bigger issues than just the cable. i tried to start it by manually working the TB and it did not even attempt to fire.
