Default 2001 Dodge V10 Motor Swap

The motor recently locked up on my 2001 V10 while hauling hay last fall. The pickup is rust free and just an awesome, comfortable pickup to drive. So I decided to find a different motor for it, and we found a motor out of a 95 V10 pickup to swap into it. So I was just wondering if everything should swap over correctly or if I will run into some issues? My family and I are huge Mopar fans and love our Dodges. Thanks for the input!

Yours is a 2001, which is equipped with OBdII. The 95 is OBDI, or at least the truck is. I'd like to think the motors would swap over, because they are the same, (not like a v8-v10 swap), but I'd be curious about the harness from the 2001 having a few extra plugs, if not different plugs.

That's what I was concerned about also.

A fair few of the electronics are different. The solution is to swap over all the electrics from the original motor, to the new motor. All sensors, intake, etc. Should be a direct swap.

Another thing you might want to consider about getting another V10 is that they have quite a history on the heads cracking, it happened to my '99. The diesels have a history of cracking the block. I would think that the hemi would be a better bet, although I have not heard any bad history on it.

Early 8.0's had a problem with head porosity..... The diesel 53 block was the one prone to cracking, the rest of them are just fine. I regularly see V-10 trucks listed for sale with well over 200K miles on them, still original engine and trans..... (one of the reasons I wanted one.... )
