Here's my stock '98 Sport on 35" Claws. Only rubs full lock with the suspension compressed.

I put 35's on mine, the back spacing on the wheels pushed the tires out a few inches. It is a sport and has the factory 2" lift. They looked sweet. Only problem was that when I tried to turn out of the driveway the tires hit the outside of the fender and I couldn't turn. I ended up putting a 3" body lift on so they could clear the fender. Funny thing is, when you measure the tires they are only 33" tall but they say 35" on the tire, so if they truly were 35's I don't think even with the extra 3" of lift they would fit.
Is yours also an Offroad model? Only the offroad models have the extra 2" lift not the sports. Some are both offroad models and sports though.
