So I finally got my new headlights retrofitted with projectors and am sorting through the wiring. My truck is a sport so it has dual beam headlights. I currently only have the low beam wired to the ballasts because if I wire up both the current backfeeds through the high beam circuits and my high beams stay on. Here's a quick drawing of what I have:

So here's what I'm thinking; add a diode On the high beam wiring before the splice of the high and low beam circuits. My question is: how big of a diode do I need? Would 5 amp suffice?
I'm thinking this would work:
