Ok this one has me stumped. I am not a transmission guy so this is new to me. I have a 96 2500 with the 360 mag, 46re transmission. The transmission shifts shifts perfectly through all the gears, but when I stomp on it and to hit passing gear (2nd gear) it does not want to shift back to 3rd. It takes some pedal pumping and some times manual shifting to get it to shift. Does anybody have any clue as to what could cause this issue?

 

Standard problem. You could try replacing the governor pressure sensor, and solenoid, with the borg warner heavy duty kit, but, no guarantee it will actually solve the issue.
