Default 1999 Dodge ram 1500 exhaust

I have a 1999 Dodge ram 1500 and want to remove the muffler that is on the truck. I haven't changed anything on the exhaust since I bought it. So the pipe running from the cat to the muffler is 2.5" and right before it goes to the muffler it has an adapter to 3" to fit the muffler. From the back of the muffler to the tip it is all 3". I want to buy a cherry bomb extreme and put that on but don't know if I should get the 2.5" or the 3" inlets. My option for the 2.5" inlet cherry bomb extreme is to cut off the adapter and connect the muffler to the 2.5" pipe and then behind the muffler get an adapter to 3" to fit the pipe to the tip. My option for the 3" inlet is to keep everything the way it is and just cut out the muffler and install the cherry bomb extreme. Which option would be better for back pressure and and all that sort of stuff.

Stick with the 3" inlet. It's easier, and will flow a bit better.

That's what I'll go with. I just wasn't sure about the whole back pressure thing and what size would be the best. Thanks
