Default Good Everyday Cam

I'm looking at camming my 5.9 soon, and im wondering whats a good cam for a daily driver? Im looking for something that wont tank my gas mileage and that will have a good lope sound at idle. Its not a race truck, but the stock cam is way to small. Anyone whos had some experience with camming 5.9s tell me what cam you used and how you liked it.

Sounds like you want a cam that will also be computer friendly, unless you have a tuner.

The lumpy cams are mostly designed for upper RPM power. Not something you want on a truck, and it WILL tank your gas mileage. It is also likely to not do what you want it to, as the rest of the engine is designed for low RPM grunt.

You need to re-evaluate what you really want there...... If you want more utility from your truck, without beating up fuel mileage, then you want an RV cam, or something designed to build torque/power in the lower to mid- RPM range. Those generally have a pretty smooth idle.....
