I have a 98 ram 1500 with a 46re. Lately when the truck goes to shift into second it does this weird thing where the rpms will go up and down rapidly and the truck will shake like crazy until it shifts into third. However, if i manually put the truck into second then it will shift fine every time without beating me back and forth. I'm thinking it's a solenoid issue but you guys are way more knowledgeable on transmissions then I am. Any help is appreciated, I should've listened when everyone warned me about these 46re's.

 

Think I would go after the governor stuff, (sensor, and solenoid) and adjust the bands while the pan is off.
