Question '95 1500 4x4 cheap BRAKE upgrade - do I have this right?

Hi guys -

I've read countless threads on cheaply upgrading our 2nd 1500 brakes, and I just want to make sure I have all this correct before I collect the parts.

I'm currently on 35's, with small 15" wheels, and need more braking power, as this is my DD and trail rig that will see a fair amount of abuse in the CO mountains (trails rated up to a 6 or so). I do not, however, really tow anything ever. I do not mind spending a little more for the right stuff because braking is super important

Front Rotors: order for the 1500 size, but Powerslot or SSBC?
Front Calipers: '95 Ram 2500, but LD or HD?
Front Pads: Ram 2500 size but which are best? Hawk?

Rear Drums: '95 Ram 3500 wheel cylinders, new shoes for '95 Ram 1500

So I have this about correct? Thanks in advance for the help!

I just did this upgrade on my 99 4x4 1500. I'm running 33s on 15 inch rims.

I did 2500 8800gvw calipers and pads in the front and 2500 7800gvw wheel cylinders in the rear. Everything was direct replacement and the larger front calipers still cleared my 15" rims. I had recently replaced the rotors so mine looked great still. If yours are older or you plan on replacing them anyways just go with stock 1500 rotors.

Thanks for the reply - may I ask why you went with the 2500 7800gvw wheel cylinders instead of the 3500 ones? Is it imperative that I get the same year 2500/3500 parts as my truck's year or is there a preferred year for our 2nd gen upgrade?

I don't think it's imperative you get parts for the same year since 94-01 are all the same. I went with the 3/4 ton gas wheel cylinders cause that is what we're in stock at my local parts store. 2000-2001 1500 calipers are dual piston , I'm not sure if 2500 are. I would look for parts for 1999 or older.

Thanks again - I went with the 3/4 ton 8800lb calipers and pads, 1/2 ton slotted rotors, 1/2 ton rear drums and shoes, 3/4 ton 8800lb rear wheel cylinders, and topped it off with some Russell SS braided lines -- made a nice difference so far
