In my 2001 Dodge Ram two wheel drive 1500 my computer was throwing a code p0601 referring to a bad computer although I had no problems with the car running or randomly stalling I could not get it to pass emissions with the check engine light on.

I went to AutoZone and bought a new computer when it arrived I installed it and now my truck randomly dies or stalls and has a hard time starting again then the no bus appears in my odometer. I put my old computer back on and my truck runs fine.

Do you think that there is a fault in the computer that I bought from AutoZone or the problem is still in my truck? Any responses and ideas would be much appreciated.

Likely a bad computer, right out of the box. Take it back, get another one.

i think heyyou nailed it... i've had really bad luck with autozone parts, except the platinum agm batteries [watch out for the date though, make sure it's recent].

if i can plan the repair ahead of time i get oem stuff online from rockauto.

generic and house brand aftermarket parts have really gone down hill.

if it's an emergency i'll go to napa, oreillys and autozone in that order and hope i can afford the premium part [not to be confused with the lifetime warranty part, what good is a warranty if you need it every 3 months because the part is garbage?]
