I have a 99 1500 5.2l v8 4x2 that makes a loud squealing/screeching noise before shifting from 1-2 and 2-3. I have to let off of the pedal for it to shift other wise the noise continues for a few moments before shifting. I can't seem to find anything on the problem and Haynes doesn't really have anything on the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Try adjusting the bands. You need to drop the pan , so change the fluid and filter. Takes ATF+4 fluid.
