Default Same issue with a twist, blown fuse

Sorry to hijack on this thread, but I am dealing with this exact same issue, also on a 97 1500, 5.9, 4x4 but I have a slight twist.

I have the same ABS/Parking Brake light on issue, though my issue appears due to fuse 20 (Stop Lamp) blowing. As long as fuse 20 circuit is intact, the lights are off.

Whenever I step on the brake pedal, this fuse will blow and thus the lights come on. So far I've not found a short. The fuse blows when in park

The issue appeared suddenly one day but was intermittent for several weeks. Replacing the fuse would work for a while and then it would blow. I could not find a specific condition that caused the fuse to blow.

I have replaced the brake pedal switch, which was related to a separate issue of my brake lights sticking on. I found nothing wrong with the speed sensor on the rear diff.

Now the fuse will blow whenever the brake pedal is depressed. I'd be happy to get any ideas from the experts here. Thanks.

If you have a trailer harness, have a look at where it hits the main harness going to the rear lights. Notorious problem area there.

Had this happen to me. The hard rubber that going to the sensor on the rear diff up to the frame, unplug it at the frame and sensor. Cut into it carefully in there you will find a broken wire beneath the rubber protector. Common problem on the Rams. Even if the rubber is smooth I had that problem. I can post a picture if you don't know what I'm talking about

Well....not it??

I pulled the connectors for the trailer plugs & cleaned them. Then left both disconnected. Fuse still blows.

Back to the drawing board.

A picture would be great. I have disconnected the plug from the ABS Speed sensor into the rear diff and tested, the fuse still blows. Is this the harness/connector you mean? I haven't traced it back to any hard rubber at the frame. Thanks.
