Wonder if it is due to different bed lengths, or something equally as esoteric. Grab the parts manual for your truck from the FAQ section, and see if you can look up a number, parts store should be able to cross-reference that.

well, I swapped out the center bearing over the weekend. no change. I wont go into all the details but eventually I found somebody with a scanner even though I was thoroghly convinced the problem was under the truck. The guy says its showing cylinder 2 3 4 7 and 8 mis-fireing. also an issue with an o2 sensor left , down stream. what ever that means. I believe the o2 sensor has been throwing a code since the engine was replaced eons ago. wouldnt swear to it. The shaking and vibrating happens right around 1200 rpms ands stops almost instantly once its past that. I can make the vibration happen at the right speed (around 45-50) by depressing the gas pedal in, out.. in, out... in, out.. (rattle, stop.. rattle, stop.. rattle, stop). the guy with the scanner said to check the distributor, rotor and cap. Im just frustrated at this point, and the distributor by the way, is back behind the engine and next to impossible to get too. Soooo... now what.

Rear O2 (downstream) only monitors cat efficiency.

Try unplugging the FRONT O2 sensor, and see if the truck runs any better.

Curious - how old is your distributor? Is it the same one that was off the original motor #1?

It would be good to pull the cap off of it to determine if you have any side to side play in the mainshaft of the distributor that the rotor sits on.

oh, probably ten or eleven years old? I pulled the drum, and suprisingly, the shoes dont look bad at all, but all the components and mechanisms have just kind of fallen appart in there. The poor old guy just needs a major work over top to bottom Im affraid. I work pretty much seven days a week and usually twelve and thirteen hour days. Have been for years. Its a tough old truck but I guess it needs some attention. just never time.
