Default stand alone controller

Hi all I am doing a Cummins / 47re swap and looking at using a stand alone transmission controller that only needs power and a VSS signal that's where I get stuck as the service books state no dodge runs a VSS signal after 1998 and relies on the rear axle sensor mounted on the top of the diff that runs through the pcm. Will this sensor on the diff still produce a VSS signal
thanks

That's what the PCM uses it for. The controller *should* be programmable for "pulse per mile", or something along those lines? Probably documented somewhere what it would be on the rear diff.

Welcome to DF!

Are you sure the controller will work on the RE version of the trans?? Link? (I don't think I have ever seen one for Dodge.)

Under Accessories, the show a connector for the "two pin VSS"..... Does that plug into the output speed sensor by chance? I think your best bet would be to give them a call, and see what they have to say.

Thay don't know as the issue is 1998 on don't have a true VSS as its worked through the cab and PCM when I won't have them but need a true VSS for the speedo, I think the Pre 98 has a true vss But I don't know if I can plug one into the 98 47re trans. The stand alone will work with any signal,
thanks for your help

If you picked up a 96-97 trans, it would actually have the VSS. To put one on a newer trans, I suspect you would need to change the output shaft, (which involves completely tearing down the O/D section.....) and the tail housing.
