The 360 came with the NV4500, whereas the NV3500 was only mated to the 318 in the 1500s 4x4s.

In 2001.5, all 2500 and 3500s got disc brakes all around. You'll know what part of 01 it is by simply looking behind the rear wheels.

V10 is a monster engine, but also prone to pinging just like the V8s. No deathflash, but probably have to run 89 or higher if towing.

There's a list of the changes over at http://dodgeram.info/2001/index.html. Mine was built in November of 2000 and has the rear disc and rear inner fender liners but is missing some of the other features. Also, mine had the death flash. An SCT tuner from Hemifever took care of that.

No way, you got deathflash on a V10? That must've really been a bummer with that engine. I'm still enjoying my deathflash after 15 years.

Yeah, death flash and 3.55's. Huge bummer. Both taken care of and it's a whole new truck.

Well I went and looked at it since there were no pictures on the ad. The truck was completely trashed, mechanically not so bad other then it needs a new egr valve and a couple seals here and there. It ran fine but it was road hard and put away wet almost everyday of its life. Both cab corners, rockers, front fenders, inner rockers and inner fenders were gone, and I don't mean just rusty I mean like non existent from rust. Box was trashed and would need a new one, no repairing or bodywork could fix it. And front bumper and mounts are bent out and broken from trying to tow it from the bumper out of a mud hole.

I passed on it for now but it's still up for sale. It's unfortunate cause we have these new safety laws in Ontario now where we are allowed absolutely to leaks, body damage or rust holes that could hurt or cut someone, and no mechanical parts can be worn out beyond a certain tolerance. And these "Safety Inspections" need to be done on every vehicle purchased before it can be registered and insured. Which are all mandatory. So my estimate is she needs a solid 5-6000$ worth of work plus tires after purchase just to get it on the road and looking half decent. Me and the old lady arnt sold on if it's worth it, we want a nice vehicle since it will be a DD not a beater. By no means am I scared of a project but it's a lot of work for sure. Would you still do it or keep looking? Thanks guys

Keep looking. Spend a bit (bunch?) more up front, and have a LOT less work on your hands. Especially considering the inspections. Buy something that will pass, or require very little work to pass, from the beginning. Maybe that truck would make a nice parts donor.......

My 01 2500 needed bedsides and I did them but since then I put at least $10,000 into it. People will say "The truck isn't worth that" but you have to decide what it's worth. Mine is priceless I'll have it until I die. They are very reliable even when beat at least the 318 & 360 are I can comment on the V10s. My point is you decide what whatever model/engine size you want is worth and spend that. The V10s are pretty rare so the engine is worth good $$$ here in the states

Yea that's a lot of money I find to invest in an older truck. I am going to keep looking. They are out there but it seems to be harder to find 2500 gassers which is what I want. I have no use for a diesel I had a 96 12v with a 5 speed. Good truck but expensive to run and fix when I only tow 25% of the time. And try to buy one now, everyone and there grandmas dog wants a fortune for a high mileage 5.9 in half decent shape. Lol
