Possibly. If it's lying to the PCM, it can cause all sorts of interesting issues. Best bet is to check it. Need a scanner that can display data, and see what the PCM thinks engine temp is.

Edit: Give the year of your truck, there is only one temp sensor, so, if the gauge in the dash is reading what should be correct.... then the sensor is doing its job.

problem solved put oem crank sensor on it runs fine
