Default Shifting problems

I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 single cab 5.9L RWD. Ive had it for about a year now and ever since i bought its been shifting funny. The check engine light isnt on nor is there a pending code. When i go to take off, whether its first thing in the morning or at a stop light, it revs up to about 1750rpm and shifts into 2nd between 20 and 25 mph. Then when it revs up to 2200 rpms/40 mph, it feels like its supposed to shift but it doesnt. It wont shift until i either let it rev up to almost 3000 rpm or i let go of the gas pedal. Then itll shift. Anything after that it shifts just fine. Once in a while when its in 2nd and reaches about 1800 rpm or 37 mph, its shift smoothly into 3rd but if i dont let go of the gas pedal, after 3 seconds, itll down shift back into 2nd rev up to about 2700 rpm then shift into 3rd again. Any input will be useful. Thanks.

When is the last time the fluid/filter were changed? Bands adjusted? Might want to replace the electronics while you are in there.

Welcome to DF!
