Default automatic to manual transmission swap

i'm doing a transmission swap in my 1997 dodge ram 1500 5.9 v8 magnum 5 speed automatic 4x4, and i was wonder if a 5 speed manual transmission out of a 1999 dodge ram 1500 5.2 v8 magnum would bolt right up to my motor? and i need to know if the wiring harness and computers are compatible

If the donor truck is 4x4 also, use your transfer case, and the trans will bolt right in, (if the donor is 2wd, it won't work at all.) and hook right up. You will need clutch 'stuff' for the 5.9. (most importantly, the flywheel. CANNOT use the 5.2 unit.) You will end up with some redundant wiring from the automatic trans. Most of which won't be needed. You will need to jumper the starter safety switch connector (park neutral switch on the auto trans) in order to complete that circuit.

Wiring harnesses and computers are NOT compatible. Too much changed in 98. Your computer will still work, but, it will whine about the auto trans sensors/solenoids that aren't there anymore. You can have your PCM flashed with a manual trans tune though, to work around that problem. Should be able to use the pedals and other hardware out of the 99 though. I think.....
