Hello I have a 01 dodge 3500 2wd. I have recently lost some resistances in my gas pedal it just feels soft and if I take off normally not accelerating hard it hangs in 1st gear longer then usual, but if I take off quickly it shifts fine. There is play in my pedal I can move it about 2 inches back and forth on the cable but the pedal still opens the throttle wide open with the pedal to the floor

So you likely have the same trans I do as well.....
I find it rather puzzling.... If I ease into the gas, the trans will hold first gear until almost 3K RPM...... If it step off with a bit more enthusiasm, it shifts what I consider 'early'...... I get no trans codes, every appears to be working *right*..... I really don't believe that's how the trans is programmed to shift..... I just don't know....
I vaguely remember another member changed the output speed sensor on the trans, and that seems to have fixed.... but, haven't tired that on my truck yet. (8.0 liter Auto....)
Mine just recently started this. My rpms range from 0-4k and it won't shift till I get over 2k I know it's not normal cuz I drive at low speeds often normally it'll will shift at about 1600 into 2nd
I suppose, the trick would be to monitor output speed sensor, and trans pressures, and see if anything interesting presents itself. It's possible its just a sensor with a bum reading at lower speeds, but, that's just a WAG.
Is it possible my O/D sensor is bad? I turned off the o/d and drove it and it seems like in first gear the o/d is off. I crawled underneath And unplugged the sensor and wiped it out and for about 10mins it shifted normal again but sadly it's doing it again
Overdrive is just fourth gear. Pushing the button to disable just tells the computer not to engage that particular solenoid, so, after third gear, you get a bit of an RPM drop when TCC engages, but, no O/D. (which is a major drop in rpm.) There isn't a 'sensor' for O/D per se, just the output speed sensor. Tells the computer something..... I think output shaft RPM...... Is that sensor the problem? Maybe. I don't know......
alright so its the kickdown. its not going all the way to the first position its getting hung on the second position. i drove it and got out and pushed it forward and not its shifting properly. any ideas on how to fix it?
