Default automatic tranny '98 Dodeg Ram

I had an error code of PO783 3-4 shift malfunction. I had this same error code 9 months ago and the shift solenoid was sticky. My mechanic replaced the solenoid and it drove fine until this week. Actually, I had not noticed any shift problems before the error and still notice no problems. Any Ideas?

when was the last service on the tranny? you might consider a tranny fluid swap if it's been a while, and go with synthetic.

Actually had my mechanic look at it and reset the code. Says that my overdrive is worn and will most likely need a rebuild.
Tranny was serviced nine months ago when the solenoid was replaced and I don't drive it that much. Any ides on improving gas mileage? I do have a KN air filter.

exaust will help the gas mileage. new free flowing muffler. but yeah if there are enough miles on the tranny it would need a rebuild. those are the major problem areas on the dodges. anything over 80k on it and i'd say you should really consider the rebuild or a swap. there are some nice shift kits out there that will also help out on the mpg i think... or not if you've got the lead foot everyone around here seems to have.
