Default 2001 ram 2500 v10 2wd to 4x4 conversion

Hey so new to this. I recently bought a beautiful cleanest 01 ram 2500 v10 auto, 8ft bed with only 50000 miles. The only problem is i live in western pa and its only rear wheel drive and want to do the conversion. I found a wreck 2000 ram 2500 4x4 v10 auto but its not the long bed. So has anyone done this swap before if do how much work is involve or is it even possible i heard the frame is different??

The base frame is the same, but, the front suspension mounts are totally different. You would have to cut the mounts off of both frames, then weld the mounts for the 4x4 front suspension. Finding a longbed, regardless of engine, would make your life easier, just swap the entire frame. Otherwise, it's a whole lotta work, and if you aren't pretty good at fabrication, and have a fairly well equipped shot, you are asking for trouble. Paying someone else to do it would likely cost more than simply buying another truck, with the configuration you want.......

Short form: It's a major undertaking, and unless you know what you are doing, and can do all the work yourself, it simply isn't worth the effort.
