Since nobody mentioned it yet, this would be a good time to change the seal in the timing cover.

That's a given. Part of a chain job.

Yeah, I hear ya on that one...... I have a nice garage, and pretty substantial tool collection, and decades of experience..... so, I have a LOT of family/friends that ask me to do work for them. Some of it I'll do, (especially to help out a family member.....) but, for the most part, I don't WANT to do it any more. I'll work on my own, as I can't really afford to pay someone else to do it....... But, in this cold weather? Last place I want to be is out in my garage, turnin' wrenches.

You are telling me that you don't want to pick up cold tools that will freeze to your hand, lay on cold concrete, bash your hand with thin skin from the cold, just to sweat and give up... Come on we all love that hey at least you have a garage. I heard PA got a bunch of snow so can't wait for when I get back... One of the barns I usually use as a garage is filled with my old cars so I lay on the snow lol

And to think I used to like wrenching. Didn't matter what it was. A tool to a diesel to electronics. HMMMMMM must be the age.

We're in the deep freeze in wisconsin. I rent space to work on my stuff. I'm hoping to buy or build a shop in the next year or two.

Well figured would update my fine weekend of repairing the mini hof, nick name for the truck.
Everything went pretty smooth till got to the harmonic balancer. The damn this was broke! The balancer part was wobbling back and forth spinning around. WOW. Good thing had ordered a new one. Then I see that it had wore a hole in the timing cover. Being the fabricator I have become over the years Fixed itso wouldn't have to drop a hundred back on a new one and wait for it. LOL
Timing chain was pretty sloppy but when put the new one on it still had a little sloop in it but not as bad as the old one. I always remember them being super tight in the old days. LOL
Now the plenum/kegger. 4 spots the gasket was blown out. So after 2 full days of cleaning and fixing the mini hog fired right up and idles like a dream, well compared to the last few weeks. LOL
Problem is after all that work it looks like I have a very minor coolant leak which will address next weekend, also my temp is lower then before the work, oh yeah put new temp sensor in. Got the radiator half blocked off too. Well that is for the coming weekend along with changing out the steering gear box. Tried to do that over the new years weekend and broke my pitman arm puler, so gotta fix it and see what I can do to get that damn thing off. Last ram I replaced the pitman arm on had to cut it off but that was 2wd and the arm was like 50 buck but damn 150 for a 4x4!!!!!!!
Wish me luck with alot of pb blaster a torch and hammer I expect it to fall right off. LOL
