Question 1995 Dodge 1500 5.9L fuel pressure problems

Having a problem, replaced the fuel pump about 8 months ago and ever since i did that i have to prime it to get it to start (turn key to on position several time for it to start).. So i broke down and bought a fuel pressure gauge today and hooked it up to fuel rail and did some research and came up with 45psi to 50 psi.. I turn the key to the on position and i got 4 psi which would explain the starting problems and i did that a few times and it came up to about 40ish psi.. Then i start it and it pegs the gauge over 100 psi and stays there, it started running kinda ****ty the last few days, idling problems but not bad enough for it to die.. Does anybody know what i should do to fix this??? Any help i would appreciate it. My thoughts are the pressure regulator inst working properly

Replace the fuel pump module with a Denso, or Delphi unit. The one that's in there is quite obviously defective.
