Arrow Damper/Crankshaft Bolt How to Reinstall - Impact Gun?

Hi all, so its been a week of hell on my 5.9. tackling the plenum fix and decided to do the timing chain while I was neck deep the engine. I am reinstalling things now, wondering how everyone was installing the damper bolt/crankshaft bolt. I have seen a few things on youtube, one guy said to use a block and then hammer it in. That was for a 5.9 keep and the damper aka harmonic balancer looked a bit different. Other one was the exact 5.9 damper and the guy put it on and then torqued the bolt down to 135 ft lbs. The FSM says 180 ft lbs but I was wonder what was the best way to install it. I have an impact and was thinking option 2 but I sure don't want that bolt breaking while I am cranking down on it with the impact.

I just clean the crank snout really well, and the inside of the dampner, apply a think layer of grease, push it on so I am sure it is lined up properly, tap it with a hammer a couple times so I can get good thread engagement on the bolt, and then use an impact to drive it home.

Biggest thing is make sure the surfaces are CLEAN, so the dampner doesn't get stuck before it seats completely.

I guess I will give that a try. My torque wrench doesn't go anywhere near 180 ft lbs. In researching this I read I should add some blue loctite to the back 5 or so teeth of the bolt to prevent water and moisture from getting in there. Have you ever heard of that?

I've heard of it, but, don't think I have ever actually done it. I usually just put 'em back in dry. of course, adding a bit of loktite sure wouldn't HURT....... Up to you.

I understood it was never good to impact that bolt back in. Just use a socket! Then get a torque wrench to get to 180. I did it in a driveway.

Need a method of keeping the crank from turning if you do it that way.
