Default '96 1500 SLT 5.2L 318 Magnum - Alternator Amp Size

I have a 1996 1500 SLT 5.2L 318 Magnum. I took off a 90 amp alternator. I like going back with what was on it, but my son brought home a 120 amp. Could this larger amp output cause problems?
Thanks
David

Nope, Dodge offered a fair few options there, think the biggest was a 160 amp...... Go ahead an install it, should be fine.

Look at what your alternator fuse is in the distribution box. I would imagine it has a smaller amp rating than what the new one needs.

On the top of the fuse box or distribution box it has "120 Amp Alternator".

Wonder if it had been replaced with a lower output unit earlier in its life.

Slap that baby in! If you have any inkling of the thermostat not working correctly this is a good time to get at it.
