Default Switch under dash?

Hey, I'm new here and new to Dodge...so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. My Ram has a switch under the dash, in front of the t-case shift lever...on the plastic that says "SRS Equipped" The switch has three settings: "Normal" "Off" and "Low Temp" Anyone know what this switch is for?

Thanks,
Zach

Yes, I have an owner's manual and there is no reference to it. I don't think it has anything to do with the airbag system...I just think that's where the switch is mounted. I was thinking it might be a transmission shift controller in reference to the extreme low temp shift problems the trucks have. But...I'm not sure.

My brain is smoking on this one. I've not seen this switch, even on the newer Rams I've test driven. Maybe it is something to do with some sort of shifting, but I honestly don't know. The only thing I can suggest is to trace the wiring and see where it goes. If it goes into the harness and is obviously factory sealed, then its going to probably be a factory item. But if not, then you'll be able to trace it, and find where they go. That's about the only way I can see in figuring this one out.

Sounds like an aftermarket part that was installed by the previous owner. Come to think of it it sounds like it might be an Engine or Tranns heater or cooler with different temp settings for the weather. Thats my best guess....

if we could see a pic of it that would also help....but i'm still leaning towards tranns cooler or engine heater.

in my ram i got a switch on the dash on the passenger side of the radio and it will allow me..with the use of the key to turn on and off the SRS airbags... maybe its the same... you can turn your passenger side airbag on and off incase you carry a childseat... thats what the original design was for...previous owner could have put it in if he or she had a childseat ... just a thought though

Well, I found out what the switch is. After LOTS of "detective" work on the internet I found a company that uses that switch for a remote start/alarm system. The switch selects between normal and low temp mode. In low temp mode it starts the truck automatically if the temp is below like 20 degrees. The system is no longer installed on the truck, but the switch was left. Thanks for the help...but in the future I will do a little more research before wasting y'alls time.

Its not a waste of time to ask, nor is it a waste of time because we now know something we didn't know before. I'd thought of a remoter starter but didn't know enough about them to suggest the possiblity of a switch. I always thought they were operated by the key ring thingie only. Now I know different.

Thanks for that!!
